ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE SCHOOL
Magangeni Primary School has a rich history of achievements, contributing significantly to the development and success of its students. The school’s commitment to holistic education is evident in its diverse accomplishments:
Establishment and Growth:
Opened in 1973 with 4 educators and 83 learners.
Currently accommodates 37 educators in 14 permanent classrooms, 11 mobile classrooms, and converted asbestos-roofed storeroom serving as an office with 1400 learners.
Notable Alumni:
Dr. Hlamalani Ngwenya, Chief Director of Agriculture in the Western Cape, recognized with The National Order of the Baobab by the President for her contribution to agriculture, is a product of Magangeni.
Student Achievements:
In 2000, Mashila Risuna and Donovan Lourens represented the Province in a debate during the African Renaissance, having a gala dinner with Nelson Mandela and Dr. Kader Asmal.
In 2001, Caroline Chauke represented the Province for her poem “I am an African.”
In 2018/2019, learner Hlulani Baloyi represented South Africa in African Spelling Bee.
In 2023 Mabasa Mikhenso came number 1 in the DBE Spelling Bee Foundation Phase.
Educator Achievements:
In 2006, an educator, now the Principal of Shibangwa Primary School, represented the Province in NTA Excellence in Primary School Teaching.
In 2017, educators Hlungwane D E and Mabasa Manganyi R B were the second best in NTA Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and Excellence in Primary School Teaching, respectively.
In 2018, the school principal represented the Province in NTA Nelson Mandela Lifetime Achievement Award for contribution in the education sector.
In 2029/2020, an educator Bekwa M.F.P won in NTA in the category of Excellence in Primary School Teaching as recognition of her hard work and contribution to the education fraternity.
Sports Achievements:
In 2016, the basketball team represented the Province in the national sports games, reaching the finals.
In 2023 Shivambu Vuxaka came first in the district in high jump.
Holistic Development:
Dumisani Chauke, Assistant Netball South Africa and the first female Head of Sports in Tut, had her talent discovered by the outgoing Deputy Principal, Mrs. Mathebula T J, as a Netball Coach.
English Olympiad:
In 2022, two Grade 7 learners(Matimu Mathebula & Basetsana Maluleke, now in Grade 9, and one Grade 6 learner( Mabasa Ntlakuso), currently in Grade 8 at EPP Mhinga were the best in the English Olympiad.
2023 two of our learners Chauke Vukona and Mabasa Malwandla came second in tha national competitions.
Educational Leadership:
The school has developed more than ten educators as Departmental Heads, Deputy Principals, and Principals.
